We’re Always Finding Nemo

Funny and fond life space moments tonight:

  • S tried to flush the toilet a second time while it was still cycling and I told him that doesn’t work, to which he replied with certainty: “It needs batteries.”
  • S has a baby picture book from Grandma Beth that I have him read to me by identifying what he sees in the pictures. Of all the books he can choose from, he’s always gravitated toward this and one other book from his great-grandmother that I have read to him most nights at bedtime from the time he was a newborn. Tonight he pointed to the baby boy in a stroller and labeled them: “I see little boy. I see stroller…..[Puzzled, he pointed to the blank space above the stroller and looked up at me with a scrunched face.] Where’s da mommy? Where’d da mommy go? She went bye-bye?” Apparently he just assumed all strollers have mommies pushing them! Priceless.
  • It’s kind of funny if I sit back and think about how often that orange Disney fish goes missing in our house. It’s like we are always finding Nemo. But I don’t mind one bit because it makes me chuckle to myself each time I think about it, and then I remember these days of finding Nemo are numbered so I hurry up and find the fish to get back to my own little boy.

{How to Create a Lovely Succulent Garden}

With spring around the corner and a pep in my step, I thought there would be no better time than to give my tips on creating a lovely succulent garden!

I don’t know at what point I fell in love with succulents, but I know one thing’s for sure: there’s no going back now, baby! Every{Succulent Selection 2} time I’m in Crate & Barrel or Z. Gallerie or any of my other favorite stores, I can’t help but make a beeline for the location I last saw displayed succulents. Then, as if I’m on a treasure hunt, I meander around the store to find them sprinkled about on various dining and end tables, shelves and display cases.

So one day when I was in Home Goods, I spotted this must-have chartreuse planter box…but what to do with it? My mind raced as I thought of all of the endless possibilities and ways I could creatively repurpose the piece over time. It seemed pricey so I called my hubs who reminded me that I’m a sucker for pots and have plenty available at home in the garage. But I had to have this one! So I bought it, resolving that I would make a lovely succulent garden!

{These Are a Few of My Favorite Things}

For {My Favorite Things Party}, I purchased 5 Salted Caramel Cocoa Mixes with Marshmallows served in lidded glass jars and combined them with handmade additions! To personalize my gifts, I printed “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things” labels and secured them to the top of the jar lid. Then I made white & milk chocolate {Hot Cocoa Spoons} with sprinkles, and for a twist, I added hand-cut “YUM YUM” Beverage Stencils to dress up the drinks if they are made sans marshmallows! I love DIYs, big and small!
