Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
As a gal from O’Neill, Nebraska I have always been super fond of St. Patty’s celebrations and this year is no different! After 13 years of Irish dancing on the painted World’s Largest Shamrock (in none other than O’Neill, NE), I am joining the town (in spirit) to say, “Cheers to 50 Years!” as 3/17/2017 marks the World’s Largest Shamrock 50th Anniversary!!! ?
More About O’Neill, NE:
I need to fact-check this but I believe I’ve heard it said that O’Neill quadruples in size over St. Patty’s weekend! Now that’s a lot of GREEN! My, I love seeing how festive folks get [though I don’t just mean the obligatory green beers they drink 😉 ], and I see that there is even a “Most Festively Dressed” contest! At that annual celebration, there are town traditions aplenty and a full slate of activities! One such tradition paired with an activity is the annual St. Pat’s parade with a green-painted horse, of course! Tonight some will even be attending a “Getting the Horse Green” event! There is a mulligan stew feed, a Shamrock Fun Run, a shamrock duck hunt and more! Just look at the full St. Pat’s Celebration Calender of Events that the O’Neill Chamber of Commerce lists! Also, would you believe there is a store called Saints & Shillelaghs?
This holiday will always be near and dear to my heart. I’d waive that Irish flag any day (although I’m maybe 95% German)! Even though we don’t always get back for St. Pat’s, it doesn’t mean we cannot mark the occasion!
May the luck of the Irish be with you always!
St. Patrick’s Day Clothing:
One way for me to stay connected to the festivities is to bring a little piece of the rainbow into our life space. 🙂 Therefore, we have St. Patrick’s Day Art hanging on the walls, we drink and eat green things [I even used verde salsa on my homemade rice bowl at lunch–do I get bonus gold coins for that?], I do St. Pat’s crafts with the kids, and this year we have a St. Patty’s bike parade in next to us in the cul de sac! SO fun!
Last but certainly noteworthy, the wee lads and I are donning our green apparel! Keep scrolling to find out how to get your little green mitts on them!
Let’s start with my tiny tot’s charming St. Patrick’s Day clothing. My spritely little leprechaun is sporting his detachable green suspenders, pull-away shamrock tie, and QUALITY white bodysuit from the darling collection at Noah’s Boytique. Swoon! This boutique line is a mom-run small business I found on Etsy after pinning and subsequently purchasing an adorable first birthday outfit for my now preschooler. Last year, I returned to this precious Etsy shop to get a boys’ baptism outfit for my then newborn. I love that I can get one bodysuit with four ways for him to wear it. Technically all of his bow ties and suspenders are interchangeable, so his wardrobe possibilities are numerous with just pieces from the collection!
Also, the shop owner Lindsay is just the sweetest and is super accommodating! Clearly she’s made a returning customer out of me! Each outfit is hand assembled with care in her studio in California, and each time I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
The coolest part: these are patent pending Build a Bodysuits with snap-on bows, ties, vests and suspenders for the little lads in your life! Don’t worry, for the little lassies there are tutus, headbands, rompers and holiday outfits that ya can’t help swooning over! Peeps, if you have a newborn to 3T-sized person or know someone who does, you need to run–not walk–to Noah’s Boytique!!! And if you share a photo of the pint-sized cutie, you can receive a 15% off coupon for an upcoming purchase!
If you are #hometownproud or #homestateproud like I am, you will love Love, Jack and Jane! The owner, Amy, is a stay-at-home mom who is pursuing her passion one stitch at a time! Amy is a delight to work with and she let me customize one of her Etsy listings so that I could proudly strut in this Nebraska-clad raglan tee with a big shamrock! She asked me what type of shirt I’d like it on and the next thing I knew, I had this green package stamped “sent with love” in the mailbox! She even washi-tapes an adorable, handmade hair tie to a postcard with a handwritten note and a printed 10% off Thank You coupon for a future purchase! Mine was a presh white hair tie with staggered green shamrocks. Love!
Isn’t this just presh?! Tickled as green punch over here! Click the image above to git your greedy little grubs on the green goods!!
